Amritsar is located in Punjab state of India. It is a big city in Punjab which is also known as Ramdaspur and Ambarsar. Amritsar is the District Governing Headquarters. This is a historical place. This city is popular for different historical reasons.  Amritsar is located in the area of the Majha part of Punjab. Amritsar is located on the highway of Jammu to Delhi. It is approximately 20 kilometers away from the border of Pakistan. About 11 lac people live there.  It has now been formed that the entire area of the Amritsar district was a part of the Indus Valley Civilization. The central part of Amritsar has a narrow street that developed in 17 century People belongs to different religions live there. 1. Golden Temple: it is the most popular and loving place in the city. Golden temple is shown as a symbol of Punjab. This is a Sikh temple, also known as Darbar Sahib and Harmandir Sahib. The gurudwara is made of gold so it is known as a golden temple. Gurudwara is surrounded by a lake that is called a pool of nectar. This is the most visited place in Punjab and also in India. It has a long history. The golden temple is established by Sikh fourth Guru, Guru Ramdass in the year 1577 and designed and completed by the Fifth Guru of Sikhs name Guru Arjan Dev. it is like a heaven on the earth.

 

2. Jaliawala wagh: Jaliawala bagh has a tragedian history. It is an ancient garden and ‘a monument of national importance’ in Amritsar. It took place in history on date 13 April 1919. 13 April is a festival date of Punjabis. On 13th April people were gathered on Jaliawala bagh. Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer directed the British Indian Army soldiers to aim their rifles against a crowd of unarmed Indian citizens in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab, killing at least 400 men. This left a permanent mark on the walls of Jalliawala bagh.

3. Wagah Border: Wagah is located 600 meters west of the border and lies on the famed Great Trunk Road between Lahore in Pakistan and Amritsar in India. The Bagha Border is popular for the Wagah Border Ceremony and also acts as a freight transport hub and a railway station between Pakistan and  India.    The aim of the “Wagah Border Ceremony” is to officially close the border for the night and take off the National Flag of both nations.
